How much can a human brain learn? This question continues to fascinate students and researchers. It is very clear that the more that is learned about human brain, the more its capacities and potentials are found to go far beyond earlier speculations. This is to tell us that no brain is made poor; every brain can be developed. It is true that some brains have more I.Q than others; still all brains are made to contain as much as you want to learn. Memory is not like a container that gradually fills up; when you learn, it is more like a tree growing hooks unto which the memory are hung.

Tip 1: Have strong passion to learn
Passion gives rise to action. When you are curious to learn, there is every possibility that you will learn. What you hate, you don’t want it around you. When you hate knowledge, certainly, you will never take serious anything that will help you to get it. Many people always go with what they hear; maybe you hear some people say that a certain subject is difficult to understand, you will conclude that the subject is difficult that you will never understand it, you will hate it even its teacher. You will never listen or ask question when the lesson on the subject going on, because you have believed you will never understand it.
Develop an appetite for knowledge, love every subject, be curious to learn and you must certainly turn a new leaf.
Tip 2: Love your learning environment
You can never love what you don’t like. Learn to be pleased with your learning environment. Think it’s worth your training ground. If you don’t love your learning environment, you will always think that the better is at the other place; you will rate it low. You will think that what that is being thought is not the latest and you will feel like you are just wasting your time. Mind you, schools are all the same; same things are being thought in same levels of all schools. When you hate your environment, you can never be relaxed to learn.
So, learn to love your environment.
Tip 3: Be friendly with your lecturers/teachers
The more you like your teachers, the more likely you will listen when he/she teaches and when you listen, you will learn. If you hate any of your teachers, you cannot be in good with what he/she is teaching; you can never approach him/her if you have any question.
Be in good with your teachers and you will learn more.
Tip 4: Attend classes regularly
When you are present in every class lectures, you will understand more by the teacher’s emphasis. He will bring it down the way you will have the idea of what the lecture is all about not just reading it on print. Some believe that even if they were not present when the teacher delivers his lecture; they will understand well when they read their notes. Well, it is true but if you are present in the class, questions from your colleague will see for more explanations of the area you may not have understood very well. It can also be easier to remember how he said it than how you read it on paper.
Be regular in class it can increase your academic performance.
Tip 5: Constant reading and researching
Memorize your notes regularly. The brain is believed to have two categories of storing knowledge getting into it. Information can be stored temporarily in the brain when it is new to the brain but when you revise it frequently it can be moved to the permanent store. Revise all your notes after school hours. Don’t be too lazy; the more you read an article, the more conversant you become with it.
Tip 6: Ask questions
Don’t die in silent, don’t feel shy; ask your teacher what you don’t understand. Ask your classmate that knows better than you; ask him in your dialect. Don’t feel too big to ask a fellow; don’t think you are belittling yourself. Get the knowledge from all round source and be a great person.
Tip 7: Join a reading group
Find a group where you exchange questions every day; go there to know how much you have understood so far. There is no victory without a challenge; join the group that knows better than you in class and your brain must be expanded to cope with the challenge. Check how well you have understood an article with the group and if you find out that you haven’t understood well so far. Bounce back to the article and read more. Don’t wait till exams before you face up a challenge of answering questions.
Tip 8: Use past questions
When you try to answer past years questions on your courses, you will get to know how fit you are into your field. Past experience teaches important lesson about the future; therefore learn from them. The question you answer could be similar to that you are going to face in your exams. If you answer them correctly; you are likely going to do well when you face up with the level exams but if you didn’t, read harder. The question is made for your level; be sure you tackle it all.
Tip 9: Do your assignment
Assignment is usually given for you to go on a research and deepen your understanding in a certain topic. Go on the research on your own; don’t ask others to do it for you. Don’t copy from others; if you don’t understand the assignment, ask for more explanations. It is better to understand the question and try solving it on your own or in group where you are active on what is going on than copy word for word from others.
Delighting yourself in doing your assignment is a sign of eagerness to learn which in turn gives rise to success.
Tip 10: Involve in practicals
Practicals bring the language of the lesson to as low as you can understand perfectly well. Watch how they get about the theory; watch the chemistry in the process. Whatever you have a practical experience of can better be remembered than what you only did the theory. The beauty of every acquired knowledge is a practical application of it. When you learn and you are able to put it in practice, you are okay with the idea.
Tip 11: Attentiveness
Listen very well when lessons are going on. Don’t be in a hurry; don’t think of other things when lesson is going on. Concentrate on the lesson and if you do, you can easily recall what you are being taught in a later dates.
Tip 12: Optimism
Know what you want and work towards it. Know your aim of being in a learning ground. Look forward to being the best of what you want to be; believe yourself that you can make it even if your beginning is very poor you can still make it if your mind can conceive and believe your expectations.
Tip 13: Sleep management
The bible said “there is time for everything.” It is good to sleep, it helps to relax one’s mind but you have to manage it well. Excessive sleeping is bad; when you spend most of your time sleeping, you are likely to forget easily. Have a specific time when you sleep in the day and night. If you haven’t timed your sleeping hours before, it will be challenging at the beginning but continue by gradual. Read more and sleep less.
Caution: Never force yourself to read when you feel like sleeping, go with the flow but have a target.
Tip 14: Stop procrastination
Procrastination is bad; it can never give chance to action. Don’t say I will read later, now is the time. That time you wish for may never come, take a start now even if it is a little step and you will certainly get to the good gradually.
Tip 15: Eat brain building food
Brain building foods are foods that boost the mental performance of the brain. It supplies you with mental energy to enhance your mental stability and function. Examples of brain building foods are: egg, banana, chocolate, liver, avocado pear, carrot, soya beans, mackerel, chicken, sweet potato, cereal crops, green vegetables etc.
Tip 16: Pray to God
God is the sole giver of all knowledge and wisdom. He is the one that can give you a retentive memory. You have done all it takes to be intelligent still, no way; here is number one and the most efficient rule to be your dreamed person. Involve God in the situation; tell him you need a change. Pray for brain deliverance; ask for retentive memory and I tell you, when God answers your prayer, it will be like a dream how you will turn around for a better.
