Of course, content is king! But what if you keep writing low quality contents? What if you are not utilizing your keywords or keyphrases? What if you are not putting SEO in mind while writing posts on your blog? We can go on and on analyzing all the ‘what if’ and this will land us no where. The most important thing here is – have SEO in mind while writing your blog contents. Therefore, I will be analyzing what I meant by SEO in mind, how it affect your blog traffic and how to go about it.
In every niche, there are people, just like you, who also wants to rank, if not #1, #2 or #3, or #4, or at least #6 on first page of search engines and you should also be working hard to get higher. That means, there are always active competitors who are finding a way to outsmart you and that is one of the reasons you should not be ‘snoring’. One way to get ahead of your direct competitors is to outsmart them before they do. And this can be done with better SEO techniques and quality keyword-rich contents. It is true that content is king but to complete the phrase, I put it this way – content is king, SEO is queen! For a better success output, these two has to go hand-in-hand.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization), according to wikipedia.org is the processing of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the natural or unpaid (organic or algorithmic) search results.
There are several ways a blogger can optimized his/her blog contents for search engines and one of them is what I will be sharing with you below.
Note that while you are making sure your contents are search engine optimized, your contents should at the same time be human friendly. That is, it should be readable and easily understood by your human visitors.
Tips to Note
1. Bold Your Keywords
While writing content for your blog, you must have the main keyword(s) in mind. In a disperse way, you can bold some keywords. This will make it stand-out from others in the article. And at the same time, it is telling the search engines that it is an important word in the whole content.
2. Importance of First Paragraph
Most times, the first paragraph of an article is what comes up first in search results when the keyword is been searched for. So you might want to include 1 or 2 keywords dispersely in first paragraph of your articles. Also include the keywords and related keywords in the rest of the article.
3. Increase Keyword Font Size
While writing, you might want to make some of your keywords bigger a little bit than the rest of the words in the article. That is, if your blog content is size 12, you can increase a particular keyword or keyphrase to about size 13. This also tells the search engines that the bigger word or phrase is an important one among the whole words in the article.
4. Keyword in Image ‘alt’ Tag
Always make use of the ‘alt’ tag in your image and when you do, make sure your keyword is included.
5. Outgoing Links
Most outgoing links does some or little damages to our web pages’ pagerank. It is good to link to other good websites or contents that will be interesting on our blog to benefit our blog’s visitors, but it should be done with care. When writing and you think it is a must to link to another websites or content (apart from yours), make use of the ‘rel’ tag. To do this, just add a few line of the ‘rel’ tag (rel=”nofollow”) to your hyperlink. This will reduce the number of outbound links on your blog, which too much of it reduces a blog or webpage pagerank. By the way, you may exclude the ‘rel’ tag from some links just to get a backlink from you.
That is all the tips I can think of right now. I hope it will help you on your next SEO optimized contents, thus increasing your chances of coming up higher on search engines. However, it should be noted that all the above tips should not be done excessively. Too much of keywords, increased font sizes and others can pissed-off your blog visitors and also make search engines penalized your blog. Any question or issue? I am always here to help out. Good luck.
