The internet is a growing platform in Nigeria which has become the most available means to make more income from any form of business. One of those businesses where one can make fast, quick and endless streams of income without sweating it out is through online importation business.
You can actually becomes an importer from the comfort of your house without thinking of how to avoid customs duty, processing of shipping documents such as bill of lading, form “M”, RAR and others.
You can order new, used or refurbished blackberry phones, laptops, jewelries, handbags, clothing materials, virgin human Brazilian hair, iPads, tablet PCs and lots more online and ships them to your doorstep in Nigeria in less than 3 to 7 days.
Ask me how?
I am going to teach you here a step by step guide on how to be an importer like me in the next 5 minutes. So let’s move on.
Before I continue, let me highlight the website where you can buy and ship goods from. Here are list of websites where you can import things from on the internet:
and many more…….
All the above listed sites are online shopping directory where you can place order on whatever you want, though items on each and every one of them varies. I am going to base my article writing on www.ipmart.com as a case study.
Ipmart.com is an online shopping directory that deals majorly with electronics such as phones, laptops, iPads, tablets and their accessories. For you to start importing from this website, these are the following steps you need to take.
Create an Account
Type the above address into your browser and hit enter, once the page comes up clicks on “Register” to register your details with them. Once your account is created you can now login to your account.
Browse Through the Product
After creating your account successfully, the next step is to browse through the product section, categories by categories. Once you find the product that suit your taste, add it to your shopping cart. After adding, proceed to checkout. From there you will be directed to a page where you are expected to fill in your billing and shipping information. Check the ipmart terms and agreements box and fill in your billing information and proceed to the next step.
Choose Your Preferred Shipping Agency
Here you are expected to choose the shipping agency of your choice. These shipping agencies are the courier services that would deliver your goods to your doorsteps. You have a wide range of shipping agent to choose from ranging from DHL, EMS, FedEx, UPS, AIR MAILS, AIR PARCELS and hosts of others. Though their prices vary so also is the length of days in which they would deliver your goods. As for me I use DHL due to the fact that they would deliver my goods in 3 to 5 days time compare to AIRMAILS which takes 1 to 3 weeks. But if you don’t have enough budget, you can go for the AIRMAILS Services.
For those importing from www.aliexpress.com which is a Chinese portal, some of the listed goods there comes with free china shipping which means you don’t have to pay for the shipping charges. But the goods would have to be delivered to the nearest Post Office in your area.
Also there are some smart Nigerian websites that offer the services of helping you to ship your goods from wherever you are buying to your locality for little charges. All you have to do is to give them the links to the product you are interested in buying, pay into their account the Naira equivalent of the product with the shipping charges and wait as your goods arrives.
Choose a Payment Method
Here, you are to choose your preferred payment options as show on the site. If you don’t have a PayPal account you can use the method I explain above (the Nigerian website). You can also use your local ATM Cards. You can use a GTBank Naira MasterCard, UBA Naira Visa Card (UBA Africard), or Zenith Bank Visa Card (Web Surfer). You can click here to read my post on how to get a Zenith bank Visa Card.
By now you should get an email address asking you to confirm your order. From there, you would be taken to the next page where you would enter your correct card details. Once that is done click on continue and “viola” you are DONE. The next page you would be taken to is a page that would congratulate you on your successful transaction. You will also get an email message detailing the successful transaction.
Market Your Product
The next stage is to market your product for maximum profit. There are lots of buyers waiting for your products out there. You can use ‘word of mouth’ types of advertisement, use Facebook advertisement, use posters and handbills, you can even use your blackberry messenger by sending a broadcast of your product to your contacts.
By now you should be smiling to the bank and be sending me your testimonies. You can ask any questions in the comment box and I would be there to answer you asap.
